Cape Town

Cape Town has been rated as one of the top destinations in the world

Cape Town has been rated as one of the top destinations in the world, and this is clear to see when you look at the magnificent aesthetics of its location. Dominated by a towering table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring rocky heights and lush valleys, where two oceans converge - Indian and Atlantic. Situated on the Cape Peninsula, with its Mediterranean climate, meaning the seasons are well defined with dry summers and wet winters. Cape Town offers the visitor immense natural beauty which melds effortlessly with the fast pace and bright lights of a great urban centre. Cape Town offers a myriad things to do and places to see, whatever your tastes, inclinations or budget.

Winter is traditionally between May and August which, whilst characterised by rain enjoys the most magnificent balmy sunny days. Labelled the secret season, as most visitors to Cape Town are unaware that this season has a truly special quality, where the unpredictability lends itself to the vast variety of activities which one simply tailors to the weather. Log fires and red wines in the Country, sunny long lunches at the coast while whale watching, visiting the galleries and museums, chilling and listening to jazz in one of our famous clubs .. or just shopping up a storm. Life in a Cape Town winter cannot be bad!

In summer, the weather in Cape Town is lovely, with mostly warm and dry conditions which can sometimes be punctuated with strong south easterly winds. The South Easters can blow and blow but aptly labelled the 'Cape Doctor', this wind performs an amazing job of clearing the air of pollution. The sun is hot and protection from the damaging rays absolutely essential at all times. The joy of a Cape Town summer is that the beautiful white beaches and chilly oceans are just the ideal place to spend quality lounging time, remembering to always be on the lookout for whales, dolphins or seals which are prolific in this region.

The beauty of it all, is that everything is so accessible that the only thing that one really has to worry about is how to fit it all in. So just to get you started we've given you a couple of leads below. And when the day's venturing is done, rest assured you can retire to privacy, solitude and the luxury of your stylish apartment at Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel and Spa.
