Mandela Rhodes Hotel & Spa maintain consistent growth despite
challenging market

The Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa achieved consistent growth in the last 6 months, which reflects in excellent revenue and occupancy figures despite a challenging economy. This luxury hotel boasts a 27% increase in room revenue year on year and occupancy projections for this summer are looking excellent with a significant increase in bookings compared to the same period last year. In December alone, the hotel increased occupancy by 5% year on year and revenue by 3%.

"We attribute our success to the warmth of our staff and our relentless efforts to deliver service excellence," says Ms Anja Bosken, General Manager of the Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa. "This is what differentiates us from the rest of the market. The number of return guests are testimony to this. Up to 34% of our guests return to our beautiful Hotel."

The hotel achieves a 90% guest satisfaction score on the Guest Comment Cards. Of all the hotels participating in the Three Cities Hotels partnership, Mandela Rhodes Place scored the highest guest satisfaction rating within the city hotels category.

Anja is proud to say that the service excellence can be attributed to the fact that staff at Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa are well-nurtured. "Within the period of one year we attained our Investors in People status." Investors in People is a recognised and international standard of good practice and a quality award. In addition, the Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel is Theta & Satour accredited and forms part of the Three Cities Hospitality Group.

A second success factor for the hotel is the style of the fully equipped luxury apartments. The apartments each have a dining room, kitchen and lounge/meeting spaces allowing guests to both freedom and flexibility. "This has a high perceived value to guests," says Anja. Guests not only enjoy the spacious inner city living, but have the flexibility of choosing how to engage with the hotel, either taking full advantage of the wide variety of hotel services or to be "home from home" using the five star kitchen and laundry facilities in each of the apartments.

Who stays at Mandela Rhodes Place Hotel & Spa? The hotel frequently has prominent guests including celebrities, dignatories members of parliament. It's excellent location in the cultural quarter offers local travelers the best of Cape Town's city centre. It's within walking distance of many tourist attractions, close to Long Street and 1,8km from the V&A Waterfront.

Anja actively markets the hotel in all major cities and key European cities such as London and Italy and Spain. Although the corporate market has dipped substantially most guests are still South African. Up to 33% of the guests are European mostly from Great Britain and Germany. It's easy to appreciate how the hotel's winning formula of service excellence, the style of the luxury apartments and excellent location keep both the local market and international guests coming back.
